Finally, the winners!

We have here our last picture. Thank you Melissa for being an angel! This package was from her to JanKnit.

And now what you've all been waiting for... the winners! I wrote all the names down and assigned them numbers. Then I had my husband randomly pick numbers and that's how I got the winners!

1. Sinnomen
2. Moa
3. Janet
4. Melissa

If you are one of the winners, I will be sending your email and home addresses to our sponsor, Sheila at Wool2Dye4! She will be mailing out your prizes directly to you.

Thanks everyone for a great swap! It was lots of fun!

Prize Details!

Ok so here's the DL on the prizes. We have had donated 4 eight ounce skeins of BFL sock yarn! It's got to be some gorgeous stuff. You can have a looksee over at the site: Wool2Dye4.

We have two options as far as determining the prizes. We can either draw 4 names randomly, or we can choose four categories, such as Most Generous, Favorite Dyer...etc. I'm leaning towards the random draw, but I want you all to let me know. I have set up a poll to find out what the majority thinks. If you have another idea, leave me a comment or email.

Thanks everyone!

We Have a Sponsor!

Hey everyone!

Sheila at Wool2Dye4 has generously offered to sponsor our swap! You should check out her site if you haven't bought supplies yet. Wool2Dye4 specializes in BFL and Merino un-dyed yarns and rovings.

Sheila is also donating a prize to the swap! I will post about that later to let you know what it is and how we will award it!

Thank you Sheila!

Partners!

Partners have been sent out! Remember you won't know who's sending yours until you get it. If you didn't get your email, please check your spam, and if it's not there either, email me!

It would be great if everyone would email me pictures when they get their yarns/packages so I can post it here on the blog for everyone else to see too!

Also please remember, you are only obligated to send your partner the yarn you dye. It's up to you if you want to send extras.

You have until the end of the month to send to your partner. If for any reason you feel that you need to drop out, let me know ASAP, so I or someone else can fill in!

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask!

Update

Hi Everyone!

We are up to 12 participants which is great! Sign ups are still open though, until the end of the month.

I posted a couple of links for resources to buy yarn or dye online. The one link that I labeled Cheapest Jacquard dyes is amazon. It's the same stuff as on knitpicks, but cheaper. Even cheaper than the starter pack by like 20 cents a jar. And they have way more colors. I ended up buying 7 jars of it to try out. If you want just the primary colors, the best ones to get are Sapphire Blue, Sun Yellow, and Fire red. I got those plus black, pink, brown, and turquoise. I knew I didn't want to try and mix those colors. It was less than 30 bucks including shipping!

Also everyone check out Catnip Yarns. It's yarn at close to wholesale, but you don't need a wholesaler license. They are super friendly, and the yarn is top quality. For sock yarns go for Kona or even Treadsoft. They also sell by the cone which is even cheaper. :)

If anyone has a link they think should be added to the list, leave a comment and I'll add it!

The Unofficial Get Stitchy hand-dyed yarn swap!

Introducing Our Hand-Dyed Yarn Swap!

Here's a few rules for this one:
  1. Yarn must be hand-dyed by your for your swap pal.
  2. Pals can be secret, or if you would like you can reveal yourself. It's up to you.
  3. There are standards for the type of yarn you dye. If you aren't sure, ask.
  4. If you would like to send other things to your swap pal, you may. It's not required though, only the yarn that you dye is.
  5. If for any reason you can't fulfill your obligation, please let us know so that your pal will not be left out.
  6. Sign ups will be open until July 22. (NOTE: I'm now extending the deadline for sign ups until the end of July!)
Standards:
  • Lace yarn should be around 600 yards
  • Fingering or sock should be about 400
  • Worsted at least 200 yards
  • Bulky, at least 100 yards
ETA July 30th: I had a question about dye requirements. You can use whatever method you like to dye the yarn. Some of us are trying the acid dyes, and some are sticking to the kool-aid or Wiltons because that's what works for them. Whatever method you choose, it's up to you!
